Beers to Find for Show #16
OK, things aren’t exactly going to be easy next week. I’m guessing about 5 % of drink-alongers will be able to scare up both of these brews, so get creative with the alternatives if you can’t find the Show Beers. Or, alternatively, get something completely different that you really enjoy drinking and just have that while you listen.
Enough apologizing, here are the beers:

Fraoch Heather Ale from the Williams Brothers Brewing Company [alternatives: if any local brewery produces a "heather ale", and you can't find Fraoch, go for it!]
Adam from the Hair of the Dog brewing company [alternatives: maybe a good doppelbock like Ayinger's Celebrator, or a nice barleywine like Young's Old Nick or Flying Dog's Horn Dog]
If you’re playing “guess the theme”, I’ll give you one hint: I’m a big fan of zombie movies.

Expansion idea - Team up with a supplier that’s already learned to cope with small order, nation wide (or nearly) distribution of beer to residential addresses. Provide a link on your “Beers to find” posts that allow listeners to get 2nd day delivery (or something usefully fast) of the upcoming beers. Both entities will enjoy increased publicity, listeners will always have to option to taste along, and maybe a few extra beers will need to come along for the ride, as long as I’m ordering.
Since, as far as I know, you’re the only podcast that seriously promotes tasting along, it seems like a niche you could exploit. I don’t think folks will think of it a whoring out since you’re not really making any money - just hooking up beers with interested folks.
You probably already have a full time job, but it’s a thought.
Fraoch?

SOBbro, your suggestion is a good one. I even have one or two such distributors in mind. The downside is that, given the global audience (hey there all you Aussie SoBers!), there is no “perfect” solution. I think, until something else gets hammered out, that encouraging folks to find local beer/liquor stores that have a variety of options and drinking along on some (but sadly, not all) shows is the best we can do for now. Still, if it gets you out there scoping out good beer, and you find a great store, then it was not all in vain!
Paul–it was great fun! Gotta love Cardinals football!
